MOON LANDING
Mid May 2023, Egeværk’s Måne series was introduced to the US art market by Hostler Burrows at TEFAF, Park Avenue Armory in New York City. TEFAF is short of The European Fine Art Fair and has roots in Maastricht where annual exhibitions are held. TEFAF is considered one of the world’s leading art fairs and has since 2016 also held two annual exhibitions at the Park Avenue Armory.
Mette and Lasse were taken by complete surprise when Hostler Burrows (Egeværk’s NY and LA gallery) sent images from TEFAF of a Måne sculpture the gallery had just received. Prior, the booth was announced fully booked but the Egeværk sculpture was crammed in last minute as the exhibition centre piece.
The reception was overwhelmingly positive – both by gallery owner Kim Hostler who wrote: “Congratulations, I think you have created something very special”, as well as the collectors which is why Mette Bentzen and Lasse Kristensen are now busy creating new Måne pieces for both the NY and LA Hostler Burrows locations.
